iLovePDF processes your files on its servers. That is not an accusation — it is their published design, their security page is upfront about it, and their deletion policy (“automatically and permanently deleted within two hours of being processed”) is genuinely better than most of the category, which says nothing at all.
KeptPix never uploads anything. The work happens inside your browser, on your device, which you can verify in under a minute: open your browser’s network tab and convert something, or disconnect from the internet entirely and watch it still work. When iLovePDF is the better choice
Use them — or a tool like them — when you need OCR on a scan, a PDF turned back into an editable Word document, an e-signature workflow, or a compressed PDF whose text must remain selectable. Those genuinely require server-grade tooling, and a comparison page that pretended otherwise would deserve the scepticism all comparison pages get. Just know what the trade is: your document makes a round trip to someone else’s computer, under a policy you are trusting rather than verifying.
When KeptPix is the better choice
When the document is an Aadhaar card, a PAN application, a passport scan, a medical record — anything where “no server ever saw it” beats “the server deleted it within two hours”. When a portal demands an exact size and a quality slider will not land it. When you have forty files and no patience for caps, queues or sign-up walls. And when your connection is the bottleneck: an 8 MB scan on slow mobile data uploads slowly, but it rasterises locally at full speed.

Is iLovePDF safe to use?
For most documents, reasonably — their published policy deletes processed files within two hours, which is better than many competitors, and transfers are encrypted. The honest framing is different: any upload tool asks you to trust a policy, while a tool that never uploads asks you to trust nothing. For an Aadhaar card, a passport scan or a medical record, "no server ever saw it" is a stronger guarantee than "the server deleted it within two hours".

Because your device does the work, our costs barely move when usage grows — a static page is cheap to serve.
